Virtu Ferries to expand fleet with Incat order

Malta's Virtu Ferries has selected Incat to design and build a 110-metre vehicle passenger ferry. This new Ro-Pax catamaran will become the 15th fast ferry Virtu has acquired, and it will be the largest high speed catamaran in the Mediterranean. With a service speed up to 38 knots it will complete the crossing from Malta to Sicily berth to berth in around 90 minutes.

For Virtu Ferries this new vessel provides a significant increase in capacity offering 43 per cent more truck capacity, 15 per cent higher passenger capacity and seven per cent more car capacity. The vessel will incorporate a three class interior (VIP, business and economy) with a total of 1,134 seats of which 996 seats are inside and 138 outdoor.

Construction of the vessel will commence in early 2017 with delivery scheduled at the end of 2018.
