13m - DIVE/SURVEY CATAMARAN

DISCOVERY' is a 13m purpose-built catamaran, specifically designed for diving and survey work, previously operating under MCA Cat. 2 (60 miles FSH). She is still in her original ownership and requirement, built to a special design and construction by Roach Boatbuilders - developed by the Nelson designers - TT Boat Designs. Used extensively for diving and survey work associated with the ?location and discovery' of wrecks, as well as archaeological sites. An exceptional vessel with 'functionality' a key attribute, making best use of the large working areas of the fore and aft flush decks. The craft has been meticulously maintained. 'DISCOVERY' has minimal engine hours at only 2870 hrs. The Ultrajet 340 units were recently up-graded to provide better performance. This vessel is easily comparable to the latest catamaran design initiatives.Twin FORD SABRE 350C turbo-charged and inter-cooled 6-cylinder engines, are connected to ULTRAJET 340 water jets. Each engine delivers 350bhp, combining to give a 22 knots maximum speed and cruising at 18 knots at 2200rpm. The installation is currently serviced at regular intervals - full details of which are available. A KUBOTA 35hp auxiliary engine in the forward port compartment, drives all hydraulics for the vessel - winch and compressors - including a BAUER MARINER 7.5cfm high pressure compressor (for filling dive cylinders) and a HYDROVANE 47 LP compressor installed under the port main deck. FUEL: 320 glns (1440 litres) in 2 x aluminium tanks + two trim tanks with electric transfer pumps. FUEL CONSUMPTION: Reported to be approx 12 glns (54 litres) per hour @ 2200 rpm cruise speed (At half turbo boost pressure @ 14psi). WATER: 35 Glns (160 litres) in 1 aluminium tank CALORIFIER: approx. 5 Glns (22 litres). Owneres Comments:

" I designed and had the vessel built incorporating all the ideas and equipment that my previous vessels lacked. Compressors and winch/capstan run hydraulically and below decks, independent of the main engines, leaving massive amounts of deck space available. The large wheelhouse was designed to accommodate loads of survey equipment, so the craft is ideal for a wide range of uses. Wind-farm work is a possibility, as it would be easy to fit a 'fender platform' across the bow if needed. It is equally a perfect vessel for diving/hydrographic survey or diving charter - easy to fit a diver-lift platform. Other practical advantages include stability, shallow draught capability and ease of putting ashore on the beach - and many other features which make this vessel ideal "

Accomodation details Accommodation Description: The large WHEELHOUSE / DECK SALOON is the central feature of the design. All instrumentation is in a large console arrangement, in close proximity to the central helm position. A crew seat is placed on the starboard side with a panoramic view - again, providing an excellent helm position. A large chart table is placed immediately to port of the helm station, with a large secondary chart table/survey desk, behind the helm. On the port side - aft of the Wheelhouse area - is a generously sized L-shaped seating arrangement - again with a saloon table. Returning to the aft central door exit to the after deck, a small GALLEY is located to starboard with stainless steel sink and pressurised H & C water. A 'Flavel Vanessa' gas hob & oven is also included, together with space for storage, etc. The sponsons, on each side under the Wheelhouse, provide a total of four basic bunks at the lower level. The 'Heads' area is forward in the bow compartment, with sea toilet (ITT Jabsco). A shower arrangement - with H&C supply - is aft of the Wheelhouse. The after deck area provides a massive working space for the deploying of survey - or other equipment - together with easy access to the engine rooms and jet installations via large flush deck hatches. Raised gunwhales and hand-rails provide safety from aft to the foredeck. To starboard - forward - is a hauling derrick with adjacent 1.5 ton hydraulic capstan winch/hauler. Access to the flybridge-deck is by a stainless ladder mounted to starboard - aft of the wheelhouse. Secondary steering and engine controls are on the flying bridge. A substantial gantry mast arrangement houses the antennae for the fitted electronics. Newly built large GRP storage boxes/lockers use the spare space on the flying bridge. At the stern, the Ultra 340 jet units (new 2008) are protected by cleverly designed platforms, additionally serving as the diverse entry to the vessel with a 'fold-down' ladder, fitted to the port after platform. The hull form has small skegs at the stern, with a moderate keel depth for increased directional stability.
