DISCOVERY' is a 13m purpose-built catamaran, specifically designed for diving and survey work, previously operating under MCA Cat. 2 (60 miles FSH). She is still in her original ownership and requirement, built to a special design and construction by Roach Boatbuilders - developed by the Nelson designers - TT Boat Designs. Used extensively for diving and survey work associated with the ?location and discovery' of wrecks, as well as archaeological sites. This is a 55 ft aluminum crew boat / passenger boat. She is reported to be in full operating condition, with all electronics and safety gear intact. She was built in 1997 and used by the US government as a rescue boat on the deck of a ship, so she has not had much use, but the actual runtime hours is unknown. Her draft is 1.5-feet. She is currently in storage, and the last time she was used, it was to ferry workers for the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.
